چکیده

Gating The PET was divided into six respiratory and six cardiac phases. The respiratory signal was acquired by tracking the position of a white spot on a black disc placed on the abdomen of the patient with a video camera. A LED diode was used for synchronizing the respiratory signal with the listmode PET data. The ECG signal was acquired using the ECG port of the scanner. The PET data was then sorted based upon the amplitude of the respiratory signal and the ECG signal into 36 bins. Detailed comparison of different gating methods have shown that the amplitude based gating is superior to other forms of gating. The 36 gates were then reconstructed individually without attenuation correction.

Advanced Motion Correction Methods in PET

With the arrival of increasingly higher resolution PET systems, small amounts of motion can cause significant blurring in the images, compared to the intrinsic resolutions of the scanners. In this work, we have reviewed advanced correction methods for the three cases of (i) unwanted patient motion, as well as motions due to (ii) cardiac and (iii) respiratory cycles. For the first type of ...

Respiratory and cardiac motion correction in dual gated PET/MR imaging

LaTIM, INSERM, UMR 1101, Brest, France Respiratory and cardiac motion in PET/MR imaging leads to reduced quantitative and qualitative image accuracy. Correction methodologies involve the use of double gated acquisitions which lead to low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and to issues concerning the combination of cardiac and respiratory frames. The objective of this work is to use a generalized reco...

Comparing approaches to correct for respiratory motion in NH3 PET-CT cardiac perfusion imaging

AIM Respiratory motion affects cardiac PET-computed tomography (CT) imaging by reducing attenuation correction (AC) accuracy and by introducing blur. The aim of this study was to compare three approaches for reducing motion-induced AC errors and evaluate the inclusion of respiratory motion correction. MATERIALS AND METHODS AC with a helical CT was compared with averaged cine and gated cine CT...

Reducing the respiratory motion artifacts in PET cardiology: A simulation study

Introduction: There are several technical features that make PET an ideal device for the noninvasive evaluation of cardiac physiology. Organ motion due to respiration is a major challenge in diagnostic imaging, especially in cardiac PET imaging. These motions reduce image quality by spreading the radiotracer activity over an increased volume, distorting apparent les...

Single-phase CT aligned to gated PET for respiratory motion correction in cardiac PET/CT.

UNLABELLED Respiratory motion can induce artifacts in cardiac PET/CT because of the misregistration of the CT attenuation map and emission data. Some solutions to the respiratory motion problem use 4-dimensional CT, but this increases patient radiation exposure. Realignment of 3-dimensional CT and PET images can remove apparent uptake defects caused by mispositioning of the PET emission data in...
